Liam asks locals residents "What are right powers for PCSOs?"

Liam Byrne MP is taking his fight for safer streets on a stage in Hodge Hill by asking local residents what powers they would like to see for Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs).

The Hodge Hill MP has led a long-running campaign to get the PCSOs on the streets and now he wants to see them properly equipped to make a difference.

Hodge Hill Labour party overwhelmingly endorse Byrne

Liam Byrne MP has been reselected as the Labour candidate in Hodge Hill for the next general election with dramatic support from his local party.

Liam received the backing of 96% of local Labour party members; an overwhelming endorsement.

Mahmood Ahmed, Chair of the Hodge Hill Labour party said:

“We are delighted with this result. Liam has worked hard as the Hodge Hill MP for over three years and we are confident that by continuing to fight for his constituents he will be the MP for many years to come.”

Liam himself added:

“I am proud that my party has backed me so clearly. Myself and the Labour councillors in the area will continue to work to get the best for everyone in Hodge Hill.”

Byrne keeps pressure on Straw to keep probation centre out of Shard End

Liam Byrne MP has gone back to the top of government as part of the local campaign to fight a new probation centre in Kitts Green, Shard End.

Liam has now spoken again to Jack Straw reiterating that he and local residents will not take the proposals lying down. The Hodge Hill MP discussed the plans with the Secretary of State for Justice during a conference call from his own constituency office in Blackburn . Liam emphasised that the site for the probation centre must be moved out of people's neighbourhoods and away from local schools.
