Liam Byrne MP today dropped in to Ridpool Primary School to thank the school’s children for their efforts in his competition to design the Christmas card he will be sending out this year.
All the children who entered received a certificate and Liam presented five-year-old Shannon Meier with her winner’s certificate.
The school, on Hurstcroft Road in Shard End, has seen its results improve in recent years and is now above the city average for pupils achieving the expected level or above and Liam was delighted they took part in the competition.
Liam said:
“Celebrating Christmas is really important. The Christmas card competition is a bit of fun in the run up to the festive season and I’m delighted that the students here entered. Even though I know the school and its students work very hard, I was still amazed by the standard of entries which was so high it made the judging job very difficult.”
He added:
“I’m sure everyone will love Shannon’s picture! I will definitely be running the competition again next year and hope that as many of the schools in Hodge Hill participate as possible.”
Liam will be sending out the winning design to friends across Hodge Hill.
