Liam Byrne, MP for Birmingham Hodge Hill, today welcomed the news that LDV has unveiled fresh investment from Sun Capital Partners into the Washwood Heath site. The investment should mean that the firm can continue with the planned roll out of new versions of their award winning Maxus model in the New Year.
Liam has been tracking developments on the refinancing package every step of the way with DTi Ministers and civil servants to ensure the future of the firm is secure.
Liam said
‘I hope this investment is good news for all staff connected to LDV, especially coming so close to Christmas. I have seen for myself the commitment of the staff at the Drews Lane site, and as a former van driver and having driven the new van, I must say that it really is a world-class product. I’m delighted that their determination to succeed has been rewarded’.
‘I hope that the fresh investment announced today means that LDV continue - investing in the local workforce; investing in the Drews Lane plant; and investing in the roll out of the award winning Maxus van range.’
‘For my part, I will do everything I can to support LDV and it’s workers, and I will be watching closely to make sure that the new investors honour their commitment to LDV staff and their pension fund. I will also be writing to fellow Birmingham MPs to ask for their help in securing fresh contracts for the company.’
